Delegate Farrell Headlines Event at Goochland DMV Select

Jun 24, 2013 << Back to News

On Thursday, June 6, Delegate Peter Farrell helped those who live and work in Goochland celebrate two years of DMV mobile office service, called DMV 2 Go, at the Goochland DMV Select located in the County Administration building.

DMV 2 Go complements services already provided by the Goochland DMV Select operated by Jean Bryant, Commissioner of the Revenue.  The 57 DMV Selects throughout the state provide an alternative to visiting a full-service DMV customer service center.  DMV Selects are in convenient locations where customers may otherwise have to drive long distances to get to a customer service center.  From Goochland, the closest full-service DMV office is in western Henrico, which could be more than a 30 minute drive for some residents.

“Services like the DMV mobile office are very important to my rural constituents in Goochland and Louisa,” said Delegate Farrell.  “This efficient and proactive government service truly enhances their quality of life.”

After the ribbon-cutting, Delegate Farrell toured DMV 2 Go, DMV’s mobile customer service center, which has been providing regular service at the Goochland DMV Select since the program started two years ago. The DMV 2 Go mobile office is equipped to complete any DMV transaction including applying for and renewing driver’s licenses supplementing the vehicle transactions available at the Select.

DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb said, “These services for residents in Goochland County were made possible through the support of legislators like Delegate Farrell, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in the General Assembly.”

DMV 2 Go is scheduled to return to the Goochland DMV Select on August 5.
